Review: Roll For It!

What's going on everyone!? I've got this awesome little game from Calliope Games that I got for review and thought you would like to know about this one! Grab your cup of tea or coffee, sit back and let's take a look at Roll For It!.

"Roll For It! is everything you want in a game. It’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s fast!  The rules are simple. Roll your dice, match a card, and score some points!"

That excerpt really sums it up about this great game. Check it out.

So, In Roll For It! players choose their color of dice and take the six that correspond to that color. Once players get their dice, shuffle the Roll For It! Cards and place 3 face up in the middle of the table within reach of all players.

All the players will be rolling for a chance to "buy" the cards and earn points. At this point, the starting player then rolls their dice and places any that they would like next to cards that have a matching die face. You have to be careful though, you don't want to run yourself too thin on dice because you'll be using the remainder of your dice to roll and try to complete the faces on the card.

After the first player rolls and matches any die faces that they would like, then it's the next players turn to do the same. This happens all around the table with players essentially "bidding" on the same cards. Once a player completes the combination on the face of the card with their dice, they take that card and any dice that were used to purchase it and place a new one.

To figure out your points for each card you buy you simply look at the number in the red oval at the bottom of each card. Once you have 40 points you win!

That's the game in a nutshell, It's SUPER easy to learn and teach and it's a great game to pass the time. Games can last anywhere from about 15 minutes to 30 minutes with 4 players. The best part is that they have TWO different sets of the game (Red Box and Purple Box) which come with 2 DIFFERENT sets of colored dice. You get Translucent in the Red box and Pearl colored ones in the Purple box.

So this means that you can simply buy BOTH boxed versions of the game and play with up to 8 players! Not many games offer that kind of flexibility so my hat definitely goes off to them for that awesome idea!

On to my Opinion:
Game Art: While they're known for some awesome art(Tsuro) this one doesn't have much there since it's a simple card/dice game. The colors on the cards are easy on the eyes and the different die faces as well as points are easily identifiable. For this alone I have to say I DO like that. Keep in mind though, if this game had any other art on the cards(Like the Deluxe Set) then I KNOW it would look amazing!

Game play: Game play is very fun, light hearted but at the same time competitive in a non confrontational kind of way. This is a HUGE plus for gamers who are looking for a casual competition.

Game Quality: Now this is where the game really shines, the Dice in both sets are awesome. The translucent ones look crystal clear and the pearl dice are just as beautiful to look at. I honestly think my favorite goes to the translucent but that's just because I love the crystal clear look to them.

Should you buy this game? YES! For a measly 15 bucks you can grab a copy and have fun for hours on end. This game really hits the spot for gamers and non gamers alike and is a blast to play. When you finish one game you'll quickly want to start another one just from the pure fun your having.

Be sure to pick up your copy and let the good times roll!
